Yesterday, hubby and I had a reason to raise a toast - we completed 6 months of harmony in matrimony. I wanted to prepare a special cocktail and was inspired by the DNA slideshow on 10 summer cocktails.
I selected Mohito for the evening. Adding my personal touch, I started with placing a mint leaf in each of the squares of an ice-tray, filling the tray with water and letting it freeze to form mint-ice-cubes. For the Mohito, I placed mint leaves in a whisky-glass, sprinkled sugar, and then added lime-juice and set the glass in the refrigerator.
When hubby came from office, I added Bacardi white rum, and soda. The mint-leaves floated to the top, and I realized we needed straws. So we quickly walked down to the local juice shops and got two straws. We retrieved the chilling drink from the refrigerator, and sipped our way into many more years of marital bliss.
Here’s the exact recipe from the DNA website:
Ingredients
4.0 cl (four parts) Light rum
3.0 cl (three parts) Lime Juice
3 Mint Sprigs
2tsp Sugar
Soda
Preparation: Muddle mint sprigs with sugar and lime juice. Add rum and top with soda water. Garnish with sprig of mint leaves. Serve with a straw.

I never saw you trying out cocktails thought that you only like whiskey with soda or water. Next time we can try making our own recepes for cocktails, it will be fun.
