This interesting real life experience is shared by my friend, Agendra Kumar.
Couple of weeks ago there was a small piece in “Mail Today” about Naadi Shastra, with contact details of a Naadi Reading center in Vasant Kunj. My wife promptly called them up and understood how to go about Naadi Reading. She was told that they need thumb impressions (Right thumb for males and left one for females), which they will classify into one of 108 types and then they will take out the index of readings they have for that thumb type. If they find the correct leaf, they would charge Rs 900 for the reading; otherwise they don’t charge anything.
The next day both of us took a plain piece of paper, drew a line to divide it in two parts and marked it with our thumb impressions several times (to ensure they had enough clear samples to work). I went to the centre and handed over the same, with the thumb imprints labelled as ‘male’ and ‘female’ written, and our phone numbers. They asked me to check if they had the bundles for our thumb types after 4-5 days; we did that and were informed that they found the bundle for my type with them, but we may have to wait a few weeks for my wife’s bundle. The appointment for reading the index was fixed for the next day.
There were four stacks of palm leaves, each stack with about 30 leaves sandwiched between two thin slabs of rosewood and all bound together with a soiled twine that indicated that the bundles had been in constant use.
Before we began, I was told to answer the questions that the reader would ask only in terms of a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ and not to divulge any other detail. The reader opened the first stack and started reading out aloud from the first palm leaf. The contents were in the Tamil script but in a dialect that should have been current centuries ago, for my wife could not follow a word, even though she speaks Tamil. Whenever the reader felt some piece of information to be relevant enough to pose a question, he would interrupt his reading and interpret the information in broken Hindi, enough for me to understand. If my answer was in the affirmative, he would continue with the leaf and on the first negative answer, he would put the leaf away and take up the next in the stack. Here is a set of questions and answers that would give a clear idea of how we progressed with the exercise.
Naadi Reader: Are you the first born to your parents?
Me: No
(Reader puts the leaf away and takes the next one)
Naadi Reader: Do you have two brothers?
Me: No
(Next leaf)
Naadi Reader: Are both your parents dead?
Me: Yes.
Naadi Reader: Are you the last born to your parents?
Me: Yes.
Naadi Reader: Do you have four brothers?
Me: No
(Next leaf)
This process went on until he came to a leaf in the fourth stack where all questions (about 12 -15 in all) received an affirmative answer from me.
Naadi Reader: You were born in year xxxx.
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: You were born on 11th June
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: It was a Saturday
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: You were born in xxxxxxx nakshatra.
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: You have three brothers.
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: All of them are married
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: You have two daughters
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: Both the daughters are living separately because of education
Me: Yes.
Naadi Reader: You had a love marriage.
Me: Yes.
Naadi Reader: Your name is Agendra Kumar
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: Your wife’s name is Parvathi
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: Your father’s name is xxxxxxx.
Me: Yes
Naadi Reader: Your mother’s name is xxxxxxx.
Me: Yes
So that was clearly my leaf, my wife read and confirmed that all the names were indeed written on that leaf in Tamil. Now they will take out the leaf with details of my future life till I die and we have fixed up the next appointment in the end of September.
Isn’t this amazing – a palm leaf written more than a thousand years ago mentioning everything about me so accurately. The leaf was written thousands of years ago and the writer knew that I will go to the person who would have the leaf, in this time period and not even one year earlier than this. I have experienced ‘past life regressions’ and unsuccessfully tried ‘future life progressions’; Naadi Readings are nothing but future life progressions. Rishi-munies that wrote these palm leaves probably traced the paths of soul over centuries. The writing on the leaf was 100% correct, as another leaf had my name and date of birth correct but wrong parent’s name.
I am now trying to prepare myself to hear about the future ….
About Naadi Shastra:
The origins of the Naadi Shastra (energy-channel treatises) are shrouded in the mists of time. This marvelous system of prediction has been used for many centuries to give reliable guidance: knowledge about ourselves (past and future), our relationships and our destinies. Research shows that this system has been in use for at least 4000 years, since the treatises were first written (on palm leaf scrolls) in Sanskrit, the predominant language of ancient.
The original transmission was by oral means, before the committal of the texts to writing. The shastras are believed to have been first composed long ago by the Sapta Rishis (seven sages) — Agasthya, Kausika, Vyasa, Bohar, Bhrigu, Vasishtha and Valmiki.
The primary centre for Naadi Shastra is in Vaitheeswarankoil, near Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, a state in South India. Here Lord Shiva is said to have assumed the role of a vaidhya (a doctor), who alleviated the miseries of his devotees. Until the 1930′s, Naadi remained an ancient legacy, hardly used or even comprehended by the majority of Hindu Astrologers.
The preservation of the Naadi palm leaves and the translation from Sanskrit into an ancient form of the Tamil language was undertaken on a large scale about 1000 years ago during the regime of the Kings of Tanjore (9th-13th Century AD). When the leaves started disintegrating with age, the Tanjore rulers appointed scholars to rewrite them on fresh palm leaves. Some of the Naadi Granthas were also translated into another South Indian language, Telugu. The Maratha king Sarabhoji and the Chola kings patronized these translations.
Each Naadi is made up of a particular ola or palm leaf, written in vatta ezathu, Tamil script, with a sharp, nail-like instrument called ezuthani. The palm leaves are preserved by rubbing peacock oil on auspicious occasions. These palm leaves are still preserved in the Saravasti Mahal library of Tanjore, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The predictions in the Naadis are in a commentary form; though in Shiva Naadi these predictions are presented as conversations between Lord Shiva and Mata Parvathi, expressing concern for and blessings on their devotees.

October 7th, 2008 at 3:46 PMWhen I was reading answers of first few questions like the year one is born, date of birth, day, nakshatra, number of brothers, I knew that those could be easily answered after the person asks you so many questions about you. Its like simple puzzle where you ask questions and collect information based on answers.
But telling answer of other questions like your name, your wife’s name, parents name could be surprising.
Wanna give a try?
