Concluding part of the real life experience shared by my friend, Agendra Kumar.
Ever since Agendra shared his experience of visiting a Naadi Shastri and his consequent appointment to get a future reading, Snigs, Manish and I were waiting impatiently to learn how things went for Agendra in his second session. We waited in anticipation for an updated blog post from him, and after I reminded him that we were waiting for the final story, he sent a very short narration of what actually ensued on his last visit to the Naadi Shastri in Vasant Kunj. Here’s a reproduction of his note:
“When I re-visited the Naadi Shastri for the future reading, he had prepared a small booklet, wherein he had given very general predictions about the future based on a kind of horoscope that he had made in Tamil way, using my time/date/place of birth. He read out the predictions in Tamil and another person translated them to Hindi and recorded on a tape. But these were very general with no specific dates. They even tried to suggest that they can do some remedies, but I had no interest in asking them to do so. In any case the negatives they mentioned were like people will be jealous with your success at work and would try to spread bad name etc.
When they finished I challenged them that they had initially said they will be reading from the old palm leaves. It turned out they don’t have those leaves. I asked them – then what was the importance of their finding out the leaf about me if they did not have the follow-up leaves. They had no answer to my questions. My second visit to the place and the Naddi shastri’s reading was really disappointing. At the end I felt cheated.
Looking back, I even feel that in the first meeting, while he was asking me questions, someone else was clandestinely listening to and recording the conversation, and when this guy went out to get the last bundle of leaves, he must have written the leaf at that time. In my opinion these guys in Delhi are charlatans. I ended up wasting Rs 900 for something that another Pandit would do for Rs 200-300.”
I shared this incident with Snigs and Manish, and as usually a pragmatic Manish said that he had already mentioned that many personal inferences can be deduced based on the questions that the Naadi Shastri had asked in the first meeting. According to Manish the Yes and No answers give a lot of scope of elimination of things which may not work for the person requesting the reading.
On the flipside, a still hopeful Snigs, sent me an email stating that authentic Naadi Readers are in the temple city of Tamil Nadu called Kumbakonam (www.kumbakonam.com, www.kumbakonam.info) and she also knows of someone who has visited these Naadi Shastris. Snigs promises to share her own experiences when she meets these traditional soothsayers. Till then, we can only conclude, that the science of Naadi Shastra may still hold true, but we have to be wary of being duped by tricksters.

August 2nd, 2010 at 1:05 PMI have had a disappointing experience with naadi reading.I had visited Naadi Astrologer Agathiyar Durai Subburathinam at Sri Kousiha Agathiya, Mahasiva Vaakiya Naadi Jothida Nilayam, West Tambaram, Chennai in December, 2008. They found my palm leaf after asking around 10-15 questions. The past and the present were 100% accurate with they telling me the names and professions of my siblings, wife etc. They even made my birth chart and it matched with the actual one I have. I was surprised. But the predictions for the future were all wrong i.e. 95% wrong. Everything they had predicted for the years 2009 and 2010 has come untrue. Rather, some of the things have gone quite the opposite way.
They asked me to visit 6 temples in the south and I spent 2 days visiting them and doing the pariharams. They took around Rs.9000/- from me to do a puja for me which they said would continue for a year and that they would send me a yantra by post on completion of the puja. They also took Rs. 3000/- plus puja materials for Guru Deeksha.
Now it is more than 19 months and I have not received any yantra inspite of making many phone calls. They have a strategy. They send you some bhubhuti/ash and vermillion/tika 3 times during the puja year and write that the puja is continuing so that you rest assured throughout the year that your puja is being done and that you will get your yantra after the year ends. But all goes in vain. They spent Rs. 100/- out of the Rs. 9000/- I paid them in sending me the tika.
I have their recorded cassette and hand written notebook with me and everything is predicted wrongly. My naadi reader was Raja Sakthivelu and inspite of my calls, he has not bothered to send my yantra. I am sure there has been no puja performed and they fleece people in the name of Lord Shiva. Now I have stopped caling them becos there is no point wasting more money on the calls. I even wasted a couple of thousands more in the taxi they arranged for me to take me around the temples for two days.
I have the details of the payment I made to them for the said puja.
I was made to understand that this was the most genuine naadi
centre in the world. How can one dupe people of their hard earned money in the name of God when they should know clearly that all this fraud would ultimately harm them? How long can you deceive God? I have left it now on God to give them their deserved punishment.
One thing I have noted that this Naadi Shastra is akin to the Bhrigu Samhita which can also accurately tell your past and present but not the future. I had visited Bhrigu Ashram, Lucknow long time back but they did not fleece me. The Panditji was a genuine person who was not aware that he was fleecing people as he had great faith in the book. He advised me pujas to be got done at home by any knowledgeable acharya I could find in my city.
This Naadi thing, based on my and my friend’s experience is the biggest fraud perpetrated in the name of Lord Shiva by these people. I pray He shoves his Trident up theirs soon. The main thing is not money but the malicious intent of these readers in asking money at every step and then nothing coming out true which troubles the mind.

March 31st, 2011 at 3:59 PMOn August 2, 2010, I had written about the bitter experience I had with Naadi Astrologer Agathiyar Durai Subburathinam at Sri Kousiha Agathiya, Mahasiva Vaakiya Naadi Jothida Nilayam, West Tambaram, Chennai. On reading this, they got in touch with me and explained that there was a miscommunication between us owing to which the Yantra was not despatched to me. I have received the yantra last week. I am greatly indebted to this blog owing to which my grievance was redressed.
